This week on A Healthier Charlotte, we explore the relationship between your bank account, and your overall health.
Whether it be financial responsibilities, bill-paying anxiety, health care costs, or anything in between, money can have a large effect on your physical, emotional, and psychological health. So, four experts on various aspects of finances and psychology join the show this week to examine money’s role in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Good show! Great to hear some takes on what led us into this financial meltdown, how the normal person like me gets around it, and what it might mean for health and lifestyle and everything. Good topic!!!
Compelling topic. Very necessary in this day and age, and a good idea to tie it to health and psychological well being, Kudos Bobby… Job well done!
Great episode! That was a nice discussion. Your panels have gotten better and better week to week, since the start of the show. Always great information!
Oh and to be honest, I don’t have any financial problems (regarding your question at the end of the blog). I’m NOT saying I’m rich — NOT EVEN CLOSE — but I have been careful with money, save a lot, don’t spend much, etc., etc.… so, to be honest, I don’t even think finances ties in to my health or makes me do anything different. Or if it does, I don’t realize it! Be interested to hear folks on the other end and what they think, if finances are a stressor that causes them to eat or something. Never thought about it!
Great point, Daria. Money (or lack thereof) can cause stress, but it’s less pronounced when you don’t stress about money, have enough, or manage it wisely. It’s possible the opposite could be having an effect — if you’re smart with money, and more likely to be calm and well-planned about purchases, you may have an easier time psychologically, can spend money on things that promote more positive forces in your life, etc., etc…
Great idea for a show and good panel!!
Thanks Leah!
I got into financial trouble a long time ago — not to go into that story, and I’m way out of it and doing great now (and it wasn’t huge trouble then, but it was stressful)… it’s really good to see somebody addressing this issue of how finances and money ties into health, because for those of us who are not in the 1%, man, it can be a struggle and it can affect everything in your life. Thank you for bringing up a topic that needs to be discussed, as uncomfortable as it might be at times! And I thought you guys addressed it wisely, sensitively, and informatively.
Thank you for the kind words — good to hear you found some meaning in the show!
Great show! The discussions are getting better each week and Bobby you are doing a wonderful job hosting and coming up with topics. Do you do all the writing and stuff yourself?
Thanks Lew! And yes, booking, writing — nothing too crazy, it’s actually a lot of fun to do!
Very nicely done — love the financial angle and seeing things from a bigger picture than just tax rates and profits. We’ve gotta be living for more than just money, right?! Can’t spend it when you’re dead!
Thanks Neil. Good point!
Good discussion! I’ve never really thought about financial issues manifesting themselves with my health, so I’m not sure… maybe. That’s an interesting point, though, because I’m sure it has happened to plenty of people!
Thanks Janie!
I should tell my financial planner to think like this
Seriously, great and highly nuanced topic. Good guests!
Wonderful show! I think it is so important for young people today to be responsible and find some sort of maturity in financial work/life, knowing there is a balance out there. It is SO important to talk about it and live it, and lead by that example. Nice work Bobby!!
I’ve definitely been stressed over money, and it does affect your health, to your question at the end of the post — lack of sleep, anxiety, you probably eat differently/worse than you do otherwise… It all ties together!
Great passion, good content, informative show. Thank you!
