AKA Creative (316 Remount Road) wants you to experience the “joy and love” of Africa right here in Charlotte on Saturday November 17. Check out the video preview above and news release below to learn more:
The newly established visual and performing arts gallery, AKA Creative (316 Remount Road), will be transformed into a welcoming African atmosphere on Saturday, November 17 for the African Arts & Cultures event.
Attendees will have all five senses enwrapped in an authentic African experience throughout the three-hour cultural event. As soon as attendees walk into the AKA Creative art gallery, authentic African artworks from the House of Africa (1215 Thomas Ave.) will flood their retinas. As individuals explore the gallery space, they will also be exposed to the oral tradition of African storytelling.
Next, attendees will be ushered into the performance arts space to see a culturally diverse African showcase. Starting with a South African Opera and ending with a concert performance by a local African artist. The showcase will also include performances by a spoken word artist, drummers & dancers, and runway show fashion models.
After the show, it’s the African after-party. Attendees will hear a DJ mix some of the best African music, all while tasting West African food, socializing, and working the dance floor.
The goal of the African Arts & Cultures event is to engage, entertain, and educate the Charlotte community about Africa as a “Continent”. Host Sambou Kamissoko describes African Arts and Cultures as an “African festival bringing the joy and love of Africa to Charlotte.”
AKA Creative invites the community to join in as we open the gate to Africa through a unique cultural experience! To buy tickets please visit www.akacreative.com. General admission is $20; VIP is $40 and includes: backstage access, a free drink, food, and a non-explicit CD from the musical artist.
