Calling all Charlotte business ideas in search of funding, 2nd Annual SHAPE Charlotte deadline is next week!
Posted on 23 Sep 2013 by Jake Rosen
SHAPE Charlotte, a business idea competition hosted by the Charlotte Global Shapers, is an innovative business model competition created for, and by, the next generation of leaders. Entrepreneurs 35-years-old and under will present their business ideas to a panel of expert judges in hopes of winning up to $30,000 in seed funding.
The inaugural Shape Charlotte Competition in 2012 led to the successful launch of winner Barry Francios’ business, Queen City Mobile Market. Queen City Mobile Market wowed the judges because it was an impressive business idea that focused on a core problem faced by many Charlotteans: lack of access to fresh produce. Judges were even more impressed by the fact that Barry entered SHAPE Charlotte with no more than idea, but built the business plan and pitch through the competition’s mentor process. Barry has used his SHAPE Charlotte winnings to start his business and is currently working to improve the Charlotte community.
This year, six new SHAPE Charlotte finalists will make final presentations, with the hope of winning start-up capital and marketing their business idea to an audience of Charlotte’s business and social leaders.
To apply, simply head over to SHAPE Charlotte’s website and enter 250 words about your business idea. Applications are due on Monday, September 30!
